BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Boston baseball team would fall to their UMass counterparts, the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs on Friday afternoon in Little East Conference (LEC) Tournament play by a score of 12-1. With the loss, the Beacons fall to 26-15 (13-3), while the Corsairs improve to 23-18-1 (12-4) and await their championship opponents.
UMass Dartmouth took control of the game early scoring the game's first run in the top of the third inning off an RBI single. The Corsairs would keep their foot on the gas putting up a handful in the top of the fifth to give themselves a 6-0 lead. UMass Dartmouth would tact on another six runs in the final two innings, before junior Mariano Jimenez would bring home senior Bostyn Burris and the loan run for the Beacons in the bottom of the ninth of an RBI single to left center field.
The Beacons will look to keep their season alive on Saturday May 11, as they face off against No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. at Monan Park.
