BEVERLY, MA (April 25, 2024) – The UMass Boston baseball team drops a non-conference road game against the number one team in Division III baseball, the Gulls of Endicott College from North Field in Beverly Massachusetts. The Beacons were faced with their toughest test of the season and fared well against top-level talent.
The Beacons' bullpen sent five pitchers in the effort against the Gulls with junior
Ross Dexter taking charge to start the game. Dexter went the distance for six innings, and struck out four batters while allowing just six hits against the 26 batters he faced. Sophomore
Jake Silveria, senior
Sam Gray, and first-years
Hunter Ward, and Angelone Centrone each came in to relieve Dexter, with Centrone closing out the game in the top of the ninth.
The Beacons tallied two runs off six hits against the Gulls. Senior
Bostyn Burris drove in one, and junior
Mike Meagher drove in the final run. Senior
Aidan Blake came across to score to continue his streak of runs scored in consecutive games. In two at-bats, sophomore
Breon Parker recorded one hit, and came across to score another of the Beacons' runs.
The Beacons allowed two to come across in the third inning but were able to re-level the scoreboard following the fourth and fifth innings.
In the fourth inning, Meagher's ground out to shortstop would force the out at first base, but would allow Blake to come across to score, as he cut the deficit in half.
In the fifth inning, Burris singled down the right field line to bring home Parker for the Beacons final run of the game.
Following the battle against the Gulls, the Beacons remain 21-12 overall this season, with their next matchup slated for Saturday, April 27 against the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University from Willimantic, Connecticut. For live stats and video coverage, visit
