Boston, MA (Dec. 1, 2025) --- The UMass Boston Beacons seven-game win streak was snapped by the #4 ranked Mammoths of Amherst College Sunday in the championship game of the 17th annual Codfish Bowl.
How it Happened
The Mammoths first goal came early in the game after a turnover in the defensive end led to a shot by Kelsey Stewart which was deflected off Marie-Eve Marleau. Bea Flynn would add one more in the 1st frame to double Amhersts lead. 2:12 into the 2nd period, Gretchen Dann capitalized on the Mammoth power play to pull the score to 3-0. Ayla Abban, who was awarded the award for Most Valuable Player of the tournament, would add the last goal of the game, her 3rd of the tournament, to give the Mammoths the 4-0 win over the Beacons. Despite the score, Leah Bosch came up with some big time saves, highlighted by a triple save in the 2nd period. The Junior netminder finished the game with 49 saves.
Up Next
UMass Boston hosts Connecticut College on December 7th at 1pm at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. The game will serve as the Beacons Mental Health Awareness Game.
