Dartmouth, MA (Nov. 14, 2024) --- The UMass Boston Beacons fought until the end, but were unable to get the win over second-seed UMass Dartmouth in the 2024 LEC Tournament Semi-Final in Dartmouth, Mass. 
 

How it Happened 

The first to 25 wasn't enough for the first set as the Beacons and Corsairs battled past the magic number. The Beacons were first to 25, but the Corsairs kept within 1 and then took the next two points on the Beacs holding the 26-25 edge; however, the Beacs fought back thanks to kills by Mya Perron and Mikayla Cleary to grab the 27-26 advantage. The push wouldn't be enough as the Corsairs took the next three to finish the first set 29-27. 

The Beacons started on the front foot of the second set thanks to two service aces by Audrey Cofield. With the Beacons leading 5-2, the Corsairs went on a few timely runs to pull in front 8-5 and wouldn't relinquish the lead, finishing the set 25-19. 

The third set would end up being the final one of the night and was similar to the 2nd with the Beacons getting the early lead, trading runs back and forth but ultimately couldn't keep a foothold in front falling 25-18. 

Inside the Box Score 

• Mya Perron led the Beacons in kills with 14 on the night. 

• The Beacons led the Corsairs in service aces 9-6, with Mary Matthews leading the way with 3 followed by Dylan Wertzberger and Audrey Cofield with 2 each. 

• The Beacons also led with blocks 8-6 with Addie Blomgren collecting 4. 

• As a team the stats were fairly even with the Corsairs scoring 60 points to the Beacons 52.
