Beacons Welcome Owls for LEC Volleyball Tournament

Boston, MA (Nov. 11, 2024) --- The UMass Boston Beacons host the Keene State Owls on Tuesday, November 12th at 6pm for an LEC first round matchup at the Clark Athletics Center in Boston, Massachusetts. 

The Basics 

Beacons: 18-8 (Overall), 6-2 (Conference), 3rd in LEC 

Owls: 14-15 (Overall), 3-5 (Conference), 6th in LEC 

Beacons 

  • The Beacons finished their regular season on an 8-game winning streak, capped off by a 3-1 win over Eastern Connecticut State on Senior Night. 

  • Mya Perron leads the team and is 3rd in the conference in kills with an average of 3.33. 

  • Two Beacons are in the top five for service aces in the conference – Toni Guerra sitting at number 2 with .58 avg/s and Dylan Wertzberger averaging .57 good for 4th. 

  • Addie Blomgren leads the Beacons in hitting percentage (.263%) and is fifth in the conference just behind Molly Wetherbee of Keene State. Blomgren is also 2nd in the conference in blocks averaging .84 a set. 

  • Mary Matthews leads the conference in digs with an average of 6.34 a set. 

Owls 

  • Keene State finished their regular season on a four-game winning streak. 

  • Marina Miller leads the Owls in points a set with 3.24. 

  • Alexis Small is the team leader in service aces with 55, averaging .52 a set. Small is also averaging 8.17 assists per set, good for third in the conference standings. 

Last Meeting 

The last time these two teams met was on October 19th in Keene, New Hampshire when the Beacons came away with the 3-2 win and was the first game of the Beacons 8 game winning streak. In that match the Beacons took the first, fourth, and fifth sets for the victory.  Mya Perron registered 16 kills, Addie Blomgren had a game high 7 blocks on the night, and Dylan Wertzberger, Amelia Devlin, and Mary Matthews all had 3 service aces. Marina Miller led the Owls in kills with 16 and Annaliese Rudberg made 5 blocks against the Beacs. 

Up Next 

The winner of this match will face #2 ranked UMass Dartmouth on November 14th at 7pm in the LEC Semifinals.
