Boston, MA (Oct. 4, 2024) --- The Beacons of UMass Boston host the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College for a 12pm LEC kickoff.

Beacons 

• The Beacons are coming off a 3-0 win over conference opponent UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday. In the win, true freshman Sofia Schallmo scored all three of the Beacons goals and Julia Cote made 2 saves to record the shutout. 

• Sofia Schallmo leads the LEC in Assists with 6 (.857 Avg/G), and Points 22 (3.14 Avg/G). 

• The Beacons are undefeated at James Cotter Field this season, 3-0-1. 

Weekly Awards 

• Sofia Schallmo has raked in an LEC Player of the Week honor and is a 2-time recipient of LEC Rookie of the Week. 

Anchorwomen 

• In their most recent game, Rhode Island College was kept off the board against Eastern Connecticut State University, finishing the game in a 0-0 draw. The Anchorwomen had 8 total shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper, Chloe Angelone made 3 saves to secure the shutout and tie.  

• Marissa Ruzzano leads Rhode Island College in goals (4), assists (4), and points (12). 

• The Anchorwomen are 3-2 in road matches. 

History 

• The Beacons have dominated the matchup between these two teams going 8-0-2 in their last 10 meetings and 15-0-2 since 2008. 

• Last year the Beacons played the Anchorwomen twice, winning both matchups 2-1. In their most recent meeting, the Beacons defeated the Anchorwomen in the first round the of the Little East Conference Tournament thanks to goals by Kaylee Haynes, assisted by Caileigh Sullivan, and Sofia Roberts assisted by Haynes. Isabella O'Connell made 4 saves in the win. For the Anchorwomen, Marissa Ruzzano found the back of the net and Chloe Angelone made 5 saves in the loss.
