Boston, MA (Oct. 24, 2024) --- The UMass Boston volleyball team returns home to host the Wolves of Western Connecticut Saturday, first serve scheduled for 12pm.  

As the regular season winds down, this match will be pivotal in the LEC standings as UMass Boston currently sits in 5th place while Western Connecticut sits in 4th. 

The Basics 

• Beacons: 12-8 (Overall), 3-2 (Conference) 

• Wolves: 14-9 (Overall), 3-2 (Conference) 

Beacons 

• The Beacons are on a two-game winning streak and have won their last three conference games after dropping their first two against Plymouth and UMass Dartmouth. 

• Dylan Wertzberger sits in 5th place in the LEC league standing for kills averaging 3.03 a set. 

• Mya Perron and Lauren Westlund are nearly identical scoring 168.5 and 168 points respectively. 

• Three Beacons have over 20 service aces on the season, Toni Guerra leading with 35 followed by Mary Matthews with 26 and rounded out by Lauren Westlund with 24. 

• Both Mikayla Cleary and Addie Blomgren have 33 blocks on the season. Blomgren, in conference play has registered 12 blocks while Cleary has registered 11. 

Wolves 

• The Wolves are coming off of a 3-1 win over Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday. 

• Delia Clouden is 4th in the LEC in hitting percentage hitting at .276% on the season. 

• Helen Megson is 6th in the LEC in kills, one spot behind Dylan Wertzberger for the Beacons, averaging 2.99 a set. She also sits 6th in points with an average of 3.60. 

• Olivia Monteleone is at the top of the LEC table in assists averaging 9.76 a set, nearly 2 more than the next highest player on the list. 

History 

• In last year's matchup, the Beacons fell 2-3 against the Wolves. After going down 2-0 in the first 2 sets, the Beacons rallied, winning the next 2 before falling in the 5th and final set 17-15. 

• The Beacons hold the advantage in their last 10 meetings, 8-2 – with the Wolves victories coming in 2023 and 2019.
