BOSTON, MA (October 18, 2024) – The Beacons women's soccer team will look to bounce back in the Little East Conference win column on Saturday, October 19, against the Wolves of Western Connecticut from the James Cotter Field in Boston, Massachusetts, at 12:00 noon for the Beacons' Appendix Cancer Awareness game.
Previously:
- Historically, the Beacons are 7-28-1 against the Wolves, with their last victory over WestConn in 2023 with a 2-1 win in Danbury, Connecticut. From the James Cotter Field, the Beacons are 6-10 against the Wolves. Their most significant win came in 2019 when UMass Boston was victorious 4-0.
This Season:
- The Beacons are 9-3-3 (4-1 LEC) this season, with four games remaining on the schedule. At home, they are 4-0-1. Their most significant wins of the season came over Curry Collee (3-2), Plymouth State (8-3), UMass Dartmouth (3-0), and Keene State (4-0). Their most recent game saw the Beacons take a tough 4-1 loss on the road to the top-ranked LEC team the University of Southern Maine. Junior netminder Julia Cote (Baldwinville, Mass.) has held primary responsibilities between the pipes. In 11 games played, Cote has faced 114 shots, registered 46 saves, allowed 14 goals, and has dropped only one game for a record of 7-1-2 with a 1.45 goals-against average and a .767 save percentage. First-year forward Sofia Schallmo (Norwood, Mass.) continues her hot streak of goal scoring, as she currently leads all LEC scorers with 13 goals, along with six assists, to lead the LEC in season points with 32. Schallmo has recorded points in nine of the 12 games she has played in. First-year forward Kathryn Brown (Somers, Conn.) and junior forward Andrea Rivera (San Juan, P.R.) each trail Schallmo as the second top-options on the offensive end, with five goals each. The trio in the midfield of first-years Devan Booth (Manchester, N.H.), Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.), and Lucinda Cotter (North Easton, Mass.) have been maestros in the middle, with a cumulative nine of the 22 total assists recorded this season (three each).
- The Wolves are 9-5-2 (4-1 LEC) with four games remaining in the schedule. On the road, the Wolves are 3-4 and average 1.28 goals. The primary goalkeeper is sophomore Regan Gracen. Through 11 games played and eight starts, Gracen has faced 56 shots, recorded 40 saves, allowed six goals, and has accumulated a record of 5-3-1. She averages 0.65 goals against and a .870 save percentage. Senior forward Suzana Imetovski leads the Wolves in points with eight goals and four assists. She most recently recorded two against UMass Dartmouth on October 18, 2024. Additionally, senior forward/midfielder Adriana Alfano has been a consistent option, registering five goals and one assist thus far.
