Milton, MA (Oct. 17, 2024) --- The No. 1 UMass Boston Beacons took care of business in their LEC semifinal match versus No. 4 Plymouth State University 5-0.
With the win, the Beacons find themselves back in the Little East Conference finals as the number one seed where they will take on the number two seed Rhode Island College Saturday night at the Weymouth Club. The match will start at 7pm and attendance is free.
Doubles
The Beacons were once again efficient in doubles, playing perfectly in all three matches. Zainab Patel and Lydia Chan took down Chloe Ahern and Tessa LaBarre (8-0) in #1 Doubles. In #2 Doubles, Elena Albano and Ayonna Stuppard swept Alyssa Craigie and Elena Cardoso (8-0). Finishing up #3 Doubles was the pairing of Sandra Watson and Tatiana Malone who defeated Maddie Lorenz and Sofia Orama 8-0 as well.
Singles
It was a race to the close out the night as the Beacons took the first two matches, giving them the early overall 5-0 win, leaving four of the matches unfinished. Zainab Patel and Ayonna Stuppard were the two Beacons to finish first. Patel continued her perfect day defeating Ahern 6-0, 6-0 in #1 Singles. Ayonna Stuppard, playing in #3 Singles, beat Craigie with the score 6-0, 6-2. Although the matches ended unfinished, Watson, Malone, Albano, and Chan were all leading through the first set in their respective games.
