Boston, MA (Oct. 12, 2024) --- The UMass Boston volleyball team rolled past the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College 3-0 to secure their first LEC win of the season.

The Beacons ran away with the first set after a stellar performance by Toni Guerra on the service line. With the set tied at 9, Ruby Ackerman provided a kill leading to Guerra going on a 9-play run at the line, pushing the Beacons to a 19-9 score. The Beacons finished the first set with a score of 25-14.

The second set went similarly to the first with the Beacons using sustained runs to build the score and bury the Anchorwomen early. The set started with the Beacons getting the first 3 points. After Rhode Island College scored the next two, the Beacons went on an 8-point run bringing the score to 11-2. The Beacons never let the Anchorwomen back in the match taking the 2nd set 25-16.

The Beacons take a break from LEC action when they host Brandeis University on October 16th at 6pm. The match will be the Beacons Rock the Vote and Domestic Violence Awareness Game. As always, admission is free.
