Men’s Soccer to Host LEC Matchup Vs Keene on Saturday

BOSTON, MA (October 11, 2024) --  The Beacons' men's soccer team will look to keep the ball rolling against the Owls of Keene State from the campus of UMass Boston following back-to-back wins against conference opponents UMass Dartmouth and Rhode Island College.
Previously
  • The first meeting between the Owls and Beacons saw Keene State defeat UMass Boston 6-1. Since then, the Beacons are 6-20-3 against Keene State. In 2023, the Owls took a close one from the Beacons, as Keene State protected their home turf 2-1. The most recent victory for the Beacons over Keene State came in 2022 when UMass Boston won 1-0. The Beacons most significant victory over Keene State happened in 2015 when the Beacons won 5-1.
This Season
  • This season, the Beacs are 4-1-4 (2-0-1 LEC), with big wins over Salve Regina (2-0), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3-1). Their most recent result saw a 2-1 victory over LEC opponents the Anchormen of Rhode Island College. Goalkeeping duties are shared between senior JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) and graduate Andy Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.). Ramirez has 482 minutes between the pipes this season compared to Devine's 315. In that time, Ramirez is 3-0-2, registering 22 saves against 42 shots, allowing six goals for a goals-against average of 1.12, and a save percentage of .786. As it stands, the current offensive go-to option for UMass Boston is senior forward Josh DeAlmeida (Revere, Mass.), with three goals on seven shots this season. Senior back Logan Erickson Potter (Swansea, Mass.) is second on the team in total season points with two goals and two assists, most recently registering his second goal against RIC.
  • The Owls are 3-5-3 (2-1-1 LEC), with their most recent matchup against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) concluding in a 2-2 draw. The primary netminder for Keene State has been senior Regan Racicot. In nine games played, Racicot has registered 42 saves against 160 shots, only allowing 16 goals this season. Racicot averages a 1.78 goals-against and a .724 save percentage to push his record to 3-5-1. Senior midfielder Caleb Harmon leads all Owls in points with nine through four goals and an assist in 10 games started. Sophomore forward Alex Nicolas is behind him with three goals and two assists.
