BOSTON, MA (October 1, 2024) – The UMass Boston men's soccer team will travel to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. Little East Conference kickoff.
Previously:
- The Beacons and the Corsairs have a long history stretching back to 1982 when the Corsairs took the first matchup 2-0. Since then, the Beacons have gone 16-22-3 against the Corsairs, with the Beacons winning the last nine meetings between the two teams. UMass Boston's most significant margin of victory over the Corsairs was a 7-0 victory in 2014 on the Beacons' home pitch.
This Season
- The Beacons have gone 2-1-4 (0-0-1 LEC) to open the 2024 campaign, with wins over Salve Regina (2-0), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3-1). UMass Boston is undefeated through their last five games, drawing even against four opponents. Senior forward Josh DeAlmeida (Revere, Mass.) leads all goal scorers with three goals (one against Salve Regina, MIT, and Bridgewater State). Behind him, first-year forward Eduardo Chirico (Minas Gerais, Brazil.) has netted goals twice this season, once against Salve and again against MIT. Junior midfielder Elijah Elliot (Hope Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago) leads the team in assists with two, one against MIT and another against Bridgewater State. Senior JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) and graduate Andy Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.) split the responsibilities between the pipes. Devine has accrued 14 saves against 23 shots, conceding only three times for a .824 save percentage and a 1-1-2 record. Ramirez has recorded 16 saves against 6 shots faced, conceding four goals for a .800 save percentage and a 1-0-2 record.
- The Corsairs are currently 1-5-2 (0-0-1 LEC) in the 2024 campaign, with their sole win against Worcester State (2-1). In their first conference matchup of the season, the Corsairs drew the University of Southern Maine Huskies 0-0. Senior midfielder Braedan LeClair leads all scorers for the Corsairs with three goals (One against Framingham State, Salem State, and Worcester State.) and one assist. Graduate forward Joey Paiva has a pair of goals and assists, scoring in consecutive games against Worcester State and Westfield State and finding assists against Framingham State and Westfield State. Junior netminder Ethan Donahue holds down the posts for the Corsairs. In all seven games, Donahue has accrued 38 saves against 83 shots for a .776 save percentage and a 1-4-2 overall record.
