Men's Basketball Downed by Tough UMass Dartmouth Squad

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - UMass Boston Men's Basketball fell behind early on Tuesday night against a UMass Dartmouth team that has yet to lose in conference play. The Beacons eventually fell to the Corsairs by a final score of 90-54.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Corsairs opened up a 10-0 lead in the opening moments of the game before Alex Woolery and Connor Walden put down a piar of baskets to cut the deficit to 13-4. Walden scored six of his team-high nine points in the first half.

Anthony Guathier helped out inside of eight minutes, scoring four points and assisting on a Bobby Joy three-pointer to keep the deficit inside of 20. The Beacons, however, were frozen at 22 for over five minutes, trailing by 37 heading into halftime. 

With help from Zayas, Walden got his seventh, eighth, and ninth points with a three-pointer on the team's opening possession in the second half. Zayas went on to score seven second half points of his own to match Walden with nine. Woolery and Hector Perez knocked down late threes en route to a 90-54 loss to UMD.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • 29 of the Beacons 54 points came from their bench players
  • In addition to his nine points, Zayas added four assists and five steals
  • Walden was the team's leading rebounder, pulling down five boards in his third game back
  • The Corsairs lead the all-time series between the two programs 65-20

The Beacons will return to their home court on Thursday afternoon to host the Panthers of Plymouth State Univeristy for a 7 PM tipoff.
