BOSTON, Mass. - Following their second straight weekend sweep that included a historic upset of ninth-ranked Norwich University, UMass Boston Women's Hockey brought home a pair of individual honors from the New England Hockey Conference. Freshman forward
Jenna Majewski was recognized as the league's rookie of the week while sophomore goalkeeper
Leah Bosch earned a spot on the honor roll.
The difference in UMass Boston's fourth straight victory was an unassisted goal in the closing seconds of the second period from Majewski. The freshman was credited with the game-winning goal after the Beacons secured the upset win over top-ten Norwich, securing her the first Rookie of the Week nod of her career. Majewski has scored three goals this season, including two during the team's four-game winning streak.
Though a 59th minute power play goal from the Cadets sold Bosch's shutout, the sophomore tender was able to hold on for the victory. She saved 35 of the 36 shots she faced to raise her save percentage to .931 on the year.
The Beacons return to their home ice on Friday in search of their fifth straight win. Standing in their way will be the Vikings of Salem State. UMass Boston took the first matchup between the two teams in November, 4-1.
