HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons offense got rolling by way of a pair standout first-year players. With just over 16 minutes run off the clock, reigning Little East Conference Rookie of the Week
John Arruda bolstered his stellar freshman campaign by netting his fourth goal of the season off of the rebound from a Bridgewater State save.
Less than three minutes later, fresh off of being named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week,
Gabriel Meireles hit from distance to extend his conference lead with his eighth goal of the season. The newcomer has recorded a point in every game this year.
The end of the first half and beginning of the second saw a stalemate between both teams' goalies. Each squad waged several shots on goal but could not find the back of the net.
In the 76th minute, after being shutout for the entire afternoon, the Bears cut the Beacons' lead in half with their first score of the day. The 79th minute saw the equalizing and go-ahead goals from Bridgewater State. The visitors would hold on for a 3-2 victory, stunning UMass Boston and putting an end to their four-game winning streak.
