BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – In hopes of defending their 2022 Little East Conference Championship, the quest for a repeat by UMass Boston Men's Tennis came up short this year as the Beacons fell in the Little East Conference Quarterfinals to fourth-seeded Bridgewater State University, 5-0, on Tuesday afternoon.

THE BASICS

UMass Boston 0, Bridgewater State University 5

UMass Boston (2-9)
Bridgewater State University (5-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons would be bested across all three doubles as junior transfer Patrick Ramos and sophomore Felix Nguyen fell to senior Kendan Ziegler and sophomore Matthew Krampf in the #1 Doubles, 8-5. The #2 Doubles went to the Bears, 8-7, after graduate Sean Nutter and senior Charles Fiske took the tiebreaker set 7-5 over sophomore Melvin Nina and freshman Maxwell Dill.

Rounding out the doubles sweep for Bridgewater State was freshmen Adam Beatrice and Ryan Hebert over freshman Ryan Tran and sophomore Karsten Bourgoine in the #3 Doubles, 8-0.

Needing just two wins to end the match and move onto the LEC Semifinals, the Bears would get victories in the #4 and #5 Singles from Fiske who defeated Nguyen in straight sets, 6-0, while Krampf took down Bourgoine, 6-2 and 6-0, respectively to secure the 5-0 win for Bridgewater State.
