UMass Boston (17-10, 7-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hitting his first collegiate home run, freshman outfielder Justin Gouveia's solo home run in the first inning off of sophomore pitcher Adam Maher would give the Beacons the early advantage, 1-0. That would be until the third inning when the Corsairs struck for three runs against sophomore pitcher Ross Dexter as an RBI double by senior outfielder Andrew Bryant and two-run single from junior shortstop Andrew Possi gave UMass Dartmouth the lead for good, 3-1.

Attempting to trim their deficit, a solo home run by senior second baseman Aidan Blake saw the Beacons creep to within one, 3-2, in the sixth inning before the Corsairs went back to work on the offensive side of the ball. An RBI triple by senior infielder DJ Perron followed by an RBI single from Bryant made it a 5-2 ballgame while Possi tacked on another RBI hit with his double that brough the UMass Dartmouth lead up to four, 6-2.

UMass Boston would threaten in the eighth inning, putting runners on the corners with one out after hits from Gouveia and Blake, but catcher Craig Corliss would ground into a double play against newly inserted junior pitcher Kevin Moszkowicz to end the frame.

Junior infielder Jared Neikam tacked on a solo home run in the ninth inning before sophomore pitcher Andrew Steinhubel came in to finish off the game for the Corsairs, retiring UMass Boston in order to secure the LEC victory for UMass Dartmouth, 7-2.
