BOSTON, Mass. – Playing in a pivotal Little East Conference match against Rhode Island College at home on Saturday afternoon, UMass Boston Mne's Tennis fell to the Anchormen, 6-3, dropping to 1-3 in LEC play this season. The Beacons are currently in the fifth spot for the LEC Tournament which sees the top six teams qualify for the postseason.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The new #1 Doubles duo of junior transfer
Patrick Ramos and sophomore
Felix Nguyen, who have played together in their last three matches now, took home victory in their match over juniors Josh Brien and Jack Cadden, 8-7, after going to a tiebreaker which they took 7-5. The #2 Doubles went to the way of the visitors as sophomores Noah Morin and Elijah Gouin defeated freshman
Maxwell Dill and sophomore
Melvin Nina, 8-5.
In the #3 Doubles, the duo of sophomore
Karsten Bourgoine and freshman
Grady Friedman fell to sophomore Zach Siemmao and senior Peter Pond by a convincing score of 8-1, putting Rhode Island College ahead 2-1 after the doubles.
The #1 Singles and #2 Singles would both need to be decided in a third set as Ramos and Brien split the first two sets, 6-4, before Ramos pulled out the 11-9 victory in the tiebreaker. Meanwhile, Nina would come back from a 6-1 defeat in set one against Morin to take set two, 7-6, before ultimately falling 7-5 in the decisive third set.
Dill would help the Beacons register what would end up being their third and final win of the afternoon, taking down Cadden in the #3 Singles in two sets, 7-6 and 6-3. The final three matches in the #4 through #6 Singles went the way of the Anchormen with Gouin beating Nguyen in straight 6-0 sets, Siemmao taking down Bourgoine 6-0 and 6-1, and then sophomore Andrew Fanning knocking off Friedman 6-2 and 7-5, to deliver Rhode Island College a 6-3 edge in the team score for the day.

UMass Boston closes their regular season on the road with a pair of Little East Conference matchups with the first one coming against the University of Southern Maine at 3:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon. The Beacons have won their last four head-to-head matchups with the Huskies dating back to the 2016-17 season with two of those wins coming in sweeping fashion.
