BABSON PARK, Mass. – The third-seeded Beavers scored three unanswered goals over the final 15 minutes of regulation to hand the sixth-seeded Beacons a 5-1 New England Hockey Conference Tournament loss to bring UMB's 2022-23 season to a close Saturday afternoon at the Babson Skating Center.

THE BASICS

#3 Babson College (16-8-2)
#6 UMass Boston (11-15-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

With Saturday's win the Beavers advance to next Saturday's semi-final game, with start time and location TBD.

Saturday's contest marked the final in the career of the Beacons nine senior members.

Babson broke the scoreless draw around the midway point of the first period, before adding their second of the opening stanza four minutes later.

The Beacons cut the deficit in half, when they took advantage of a breakaway goal which was the result of a poorly timed line change by the Beavers defense. Kolye Bankauskas had the unassisted tally for the Beacons.

The two rivals would head into the second intermission with the score deadlocked at 2-1. However, the momentum shifted in favor of the host Beavers when they netted their third goal in the first five minutes of the final frame.

They then added a power-play goal, the only one of the contest for either team, before sealing the victory with less than five minutes to play.
