Women's Tennis Continues Banner Week with Sweep of Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, Mass. - UMass Boston Women's Tennis wrapped up their third sweep in four days, defeating Plymouth State University by a final score of 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons came out firing in their doubles matches once again, starting off with Lydia Chan and Zainab Patel, who defeated their counterparts from Plymouth 8-1. The unstoppable duo of Elena Albano and Ayonna Stuppard were right on their heels with an 8-1 victory of their own. Kaya-Lilliana Rutkowski and Sandra Watson wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory in their match.

After taking care of business as a doubles duo, Chan and Patel made quick work of their respective singles matches, allowing just one point apiece. Albano and Stuppard were once again right on their teammates' heels, finishing off their singles opponents while letting up just one point each. With the match well in hand, Shreya Sravana Rakshana and Rutkowski finished off the sweep with wins in their respective singles matches.

  • The Beacons' sweep was their third of the week, fourth of the season, and 10th since the beginning of the 2022-23
