BOSTON, Mass. - UMass Boston Women's Volleyball suffered a non-conference loss at the hands of cross-town opponent Simmons University on Wednesday night, getting swept in straight sets 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling into an early 9-3 hole, the Beacons were able to cut the lead down to 11-9 behind a run on kills from Amelia Dvlin,
Taryn Broughal, Katie rennie,
Livia Trindade, and
Dylan Wertzberger. The comeback, however, was not meant to be as Simmons put together a 7-0 run and eventually took the set 25-13.
In set number two, the Beacons found themselves in another early hole, trailing 13-4. They were able to slowly chip away to cut their deficit to 18-17. Broughal, Wertzberger, and
Paige Coulson each provided a pair of kills during the run. The Sharks, however, found their rhythm once again, piecing together a 7-3 run to finish off the set with a 25-20 victory.Â
The third set of the night was more of the same for the Beacons who found themselves trailing 8-0 to open the ordeal. They were able to once again chip away at the big lead, cutting it as close as 18-13 thanks to kills from Wertzberger and
Mya Perron. Simmons once again overwhelmed late aand finished off the set and the match 25-16.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Trindade once again led the Beacons with 10 kills, raising her season total to 90 in just 11 games
- The Beacons kept the margin close on digs (44-48) thanks to 10 from Ally Dean and eight from Ruby Ackerman
- Volleyball has lost two straight matches against Simmons, dropping their ecord in the all-time series to 12-18

The Beacons will celebrate senior day on Saturday, October 28 when they host LEC opponent Vermont State University Castleton for a 3 PM start.
