Castleton University (3-8, 0-3 Little East Conference)
HOW IT HAPPENED
A long break from games seemed to have a little effect on the Beacons who went right back to their sharp-shooting ways from the opening tip-off. With just 12 seconds run off the clock,
Mariano Olivier-Rodriguez splashed a three-pointer for the game's first points. Olivier-Rodriguez would hit another triple with 13:05 to play in the first and a third with just under 10 on the clock. His 19 made threes on the season are second on the team to only
Emanuel Zayas.
Â
As hot as the Beacons were from beyond the arc early, the difference on the offensive game was under the rim. As a team they outscored Castleton 44-18 in the paint while grabbing 38 rebounds to just 25 for the Spartans.
Â
Lorquet flexed his skills down low with 14 points on 6-8 shooting in the first half. He would go on to finish the game with 25 points and 13 rebounds. His tenth double-double of the season puts him in company with just three other players in all of NCAA Division III men's basketball.
Â
After posting a season-best 15 points last time out against Rhode Island College,
Ike Eluwa stayed hot, recording 13 points while shooting over 50% from the field, three-point range, and the free throw line. Wednesday night marked the first time in his career that he has scored double digits in consecutive games.
Â
The Beacons led for all 40 minutes of the game en route to a dominant 76-47 victory.
