BRISTOL, R.I. -- Although the regular season for UMass Boston Men's Tennis does not officially start until the spring, the Beacons took on Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon, dropping their first match of the 2022-2023 season, 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Currently the Beacons are carrying five players, two of which are returners, on the roster.
Returning sophomore
Rudraksh Trivedi teamed up with newcomer Maxwell Dik while newcomers Melvin Nina and Joseph Malone paired up for the #2 Doubles, both duos fell to the Hawks by scores of 8-1 and 8-0.
In the singles, Trivedi was defeated in two sets (6-1, 6-4) in the #1 Singles while returning sophomore was defeated in two sets 6-0, 6-0) in the #5 Singles.
Newcomers Maxwell Dik (6-0, 6-0), Melvin Nina (6-3, 6-1), and Joseph Malone (6-0, 6-1) were defeated in two sets each in the #2 through #4 Singles.

- The Beacons have lost seven straight matches to the Hawks, dropping to 5-7 in the all-time series

The Beacons are currently slated to play their next match on February 23rd to kick off their spring season against Eastern Nazarene College at a time to be determined on the road.
