Women's Soccer Blanks WestConn On Senior Day

Kaylee Haynes netted a pair goals in the 3-0 victory

BOSTON, Mass. – A pair of Kaylee Haynes goals lift women's soccer to an impressive 3-0 Little East Conference win over WestConn Saturday afternoon at UMB Soccer Field on Senior Day.

THE BASICS

UMass Boston 3, WestConn 0

UMass Boston (6-8-2, 4-3-0 LEC)
WestConn (10-6-1, 5-1-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Maria Spylios, was once again untouchable in goal as she saved all 10 of WestConn's shots on goal. She got to work early, recording three saves in the first five minutes of play.

When the action shifted to the other side of the field, the Beacons' offense got to work quickly. Before 15 minutes had ticked off the clock they already had their first goal of the day courtesy of a goal by Haynes, assisted by Dani Anderson.

The Beacons regained possession almost immediately as they intercepted the WestConn kickoff. In the 15th minute, just 29 seconds after Haynes' score, Callia Eaton put an unassisted goal in the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.

Later in the half, Haynes decided that she was not satisfied with one goal in her senior game as she controlled a goal kick and found space in the bottom left corner for her second goal of the game.

The UMB defense held strong to close out the game as none of WestConn's 13 second half shots found the net, preserving the shutout.
