Women’s Soccer Blanks UMass Dartmouth, 1-0

Maria Spylios made a key PK save to preserve the Beacons shutout win

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – A Maggie Kelley (Paxton, Mass.) goal in the 54th minute lifted women's soccer to a 1-0 Little East Conference victory over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening at Cressy Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite dominating the shots category 26-6, the Beacons had to settle for the lone goal from Kelley, with Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.) assisting on the play.

The highlight of the match however went to junior goalkeeper Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) who stopped a Corsairs penalty kick attempt in the final 10 minutes of regulation.

Of the Beacons 26 shots, 10 were on goal. Katherine Hubbard made nine stops in goal for UMass Dartmouth, as they dropped their ninth straight game, sixth straight by shutout.

For Spylios she ended the night with three saves to earn her seventh victory overall.
