HOW IT HAPPENED

After two-goal first period, the Beacons quickly saw what was a comfortable lead begin to slip away.  Southern Maine cut the deficit in half just 51 seconds into the second stanza with Grace Simmons scoring her first goal of the campaign.

Fifteen minutes later Amanda Crowley and Petyon Dukas would score the tying and game-winning goals 41 seconds apart to give Southern Maine a 3-2 lead with just over three minutes to play before the second intermission.

The third period was dominated by the Beacons offense, but a strong defensive showing by the Huskies and netminder Whitney Padgett kept USM's lead intact.

Jane Ann Drill (Madison, Wis.) scored the Beacons first goal of the contest on the power-play at the 11:03 mark off of an Addie Budington (Winnetka, Ill.) and Cailey Kozich (Wexford, Pa.) assist.  UMB then tacked on their second goal with .03 seconds left in the first period with Kelsey Ryan (Burlington, Mass.) poking home her seventh goal of the season.

Bri Colucci (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Mia Sacco (Plymouth, Mass.) each picked-up an assist on the play, which at the time was a huge momentum boost for the Beacons.

Caty Flagg (Methuen, Mass.) finished the contest with 24 stops, 13 of which came in the second period.  Padgett registered a 30 save performance to improve to 7-9-2 on the campaign.
