(Johnson & Wales 1-8, New England Hockey Conference 0-8-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After going into the first intermission trailing 1-0, UMass Boston exploded for six goals in the second and four more in the third period.

Junior Jack Riley (Wrentham, Mass.) paced the Beacons with two goals and an assist. Senior Derek Caruso (Port Washington, N.Y.) and junior Zack Bross (St. Louis, Mo.) added two goals apiece.

Senior Daniel Nachbaur (Richland, Wash.) was the other Beacon with three points, as he chipped in a goal and two assists.

Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.), Jeffrey Skinner (Houston, Texas) and Dakota Keene (Poland, Maine) also scored in the win.

In net, Bailey MacBurnie (Beverly, Mass.) made 15 saves on 16 shots to earn his second win of the season.

Matt Bernot scored his team-leading third goal of the season for the Wildcats, with Peter Costa earning an assist on the play.

Freshman goalie Mike Camasso made 42 saves on 52 shots in his first collegiate start.

UMass Boston jumped all over the hosts to open the contest but found themselves trailing at the 10:12 mark. Right after a Beacons power-play expired, the Wildcats skated in on a 3-on-2 and Costa found Bernot on the back-side for a one-timer that just slipped through MacBurnie's pads.

The Beacons had a 5-on-3 chance later in the period they couldn't convert on but they caught a break when the Wildcats were called for a major penalty in the final minute of the period.

UMass Boston tied the game 26 seconds into the second period, when Redler scored off a feed from Nick Albano (Beverly, Mass.).

After a second penalty on the Wildcats, UMass Boston took the lead for good on a 5-on-3 goal from Bross at 3:01.

Caruso pushed the lead to 4-0 with a short-handed goal and a 4-on-4 goal in a 3:30 span.

Skinner and Bross added two late goals, to close out the Beacons six-goal run in a 15:10 span.

UMass Boston scored four more goals in a 10:44 span of the third period.

Riley scored the first two goals, before Keene and Nachbaur struck within a 38-second span.
