BOSTON, Mass. – A goal from Cassie Levesque (Methuen, Mass.) in the 67th minute earned women's soccer their first win of the year as they defeated Emerson College by the final of 3-2 Tuesday evening at Rotch Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Even at two goals apiece, the Beacons retook the lead thanks to Levesque, who scored on an unassisted play. Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Fugiel (Easthampton, Mass.) also did her part with some late game heroics as she stopped an Emerson College penalty kick attempt with less than nine minutes left in regulation.
The Beacons struck first in Tuesday's non-conference affair, with Kate Leavitt (Plymouth, Mass.) ending the scoreless draw just seven minutes into the contest. Her marker was the first of the year as well, as UMass Boston looked to end their early season struggles.
Ten minutes later, freshman Gigi Braga (Medford, Mass.) found the back of the net for the second time in the last two contests to give the Beacons their first two-goal lead of 2016.
UMass would continue to pressure the Lions for the remainder of the first half. After the break, the Lions would come roaring back with back-to-back scores of-their-own to even the contest at 2-2.
The score would remain deadlocked for just over 13 minutes, when Levesque struck giving her team the much needed lift.
