Box Score GORHAM, Maine – Led by Cole Libby's game-high 20 points the University of Southern Maine was able to hold off men's basketball as the Beacons dropped a 74-53 Little East Conference contest Wednesday evening at Fifield Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After holding a slim lead at the halftime break, Southern Maine shot 50.0% in the second half to gain some breathing room over the Beacons. Aaron Toman came off the bench to lead the Huskies as he dropped in 12 points in 12 minutes of action. Libby finished with six points in the half to cap-off his team leading night.
From the field Libby shot 5-for-7 from the field, all of which were taken from 3-point range. He would also go 5-for-6 at the line. Not only did he lead the Huskies offense, but he also combined for strong six rebounds, four steals, and one assist.
For the Beacons Sam Freeman (Boston, Mass.) led the Beacons with nine points on 3-of-8 shooting, 3-for-4 at the charity stripe. He also had eight rebounds, while Dan Powers (Westwood, Mass.) came off the bench to finish with a team-high nine boards. Selim Omerovic (Saugus, Mass.) led the Beacons bench with eight points.
On the night UMass struggled from the field as they shot just 29.6% from the field and 20.0% from behind the arc.
The Beacons did lead in rebounds as they combined for 39, while the Huskies finished with 36. The Huskies defense proved strong all night, as they combined for nine blocked shots, and seven steals.
