Box Score RUTLAND, Vt.—Junior captain Albee Daley (Averill Park, N.Y.) recorded a career-best two goals, to lead #10/11 UMass Boston men's hockey to a 5-1 win over host Castleton University in their first-ever New England Hockey Conference contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
#11/12 UMass Boston scored a goal in the first 5:22 of each period and nine players recorded at least one point, to help the Beacons win their fourth-straight game over the Spartans.
Senior Mike Miller (Wrentham, Mass.) and Derek Colucci (North Scituate, R.I.) opened the scoring and Daley sandwiched his two goals around sophomore Colin Larkin's (Waterford, Michigan) second goal of the season.
Senior Matt Lemire (Townsend, Mass.) paced the Beacons' with three assists, while junior defenseman Tyler Bishop (Ramsey, N.J.) added his fourth assist in two games.
In net, senior goalie Billy Faust (Alta Loma, Calif.) allowed just one goal on 23 total shots, to improve to 3-0-0. Faust was perfect through the opening 49 minutes, before a late tally from Will Laking.
UMass Boston needed just 3:07 to take an early lead, as Miller took passes from Larkin and Frankie DeAugustine (Pittsburgh, Pa.), before firing a shot over Brody Wagner's shoulder.
The Beacons' tacked on a second goal late in the period, with Gabe Chuckran (Media, Pa.) setting up Colucci at 16:19.
Daley extended the lead to 3-0 53 seconds into the third, when he slipped a shot through Wagner's pads. Lemire and freshman Drew Gannon (Plano, Texas) earned assists on the play.
UMass Boston found the back of the net on the power-play at 5:22, when Lemire and Bishop set-up Larkin.
After 20 minutes of scoreless action, UMass Boston scored their fifth and final goal at 6:53, when Daley scored UMass Boston's first short-handed tally of the year. Lemire and Andrew Crawford (Medford, Mass.) were credited with assists on the play.
Wagner finished with 24 saves on 29 shots to take the loss for Castleton.
