#1/2 Norwich Blows Past #7/8 Men's Hockey 6-3

NORTHFIELD, Vt.—Despite a three-goal third-period comeback, UMass Boston men's hockey (10-2-1, 6-1-0 ECAC East) saw their winless streak extend to three games Friday night, with a 6-3 loss to host #1/2 Norwich University (12-1-1, 8-0-0 ECAC East).

The Beacons three-goal third period snapped a streak in which the Beacons had managed just two goals over 165 minutes.

Peter MacIntyre (Norfolk, Mass.) led the Beacons with a goal and an assist in the third stanza, while seniors John Houston (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Mike Kuhn (Holbrook, Mass.) also lit the lamp.

Senior Stephen Buco (North Providence, R.I.) picked up two assists in the loss, while Tyler Bishop (Ramsay, N.J.) recorded his sixth assist of the season.

In net, Zach Andrews (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Billy Faust (Alta Loma, Calif.) combined for 25 saves on 29 shots, with Faust stopping 12 of 13 shots over the final 31:02 of the contest.

Anthony Flaherty led the Cadets with a pair of goals, while Brendan Boyce (two assists) and Trevor Stewart (one goal and one assist) also finished with multi-point games.

Ty Reichenbach stopped 23 of 26 shots to move to 6-0-1 on the season.

Norwich scored two goals in both the first and second period, with all four goals coming over a 17:17 span, to grab a 4-0 lead through two periods.

UMass Boston answered back with the first two goals of the third period, as MacIntyre scored 1:56 into the third and Houston added his first goal of the season at 10:32.

Flaherty scored his second goal of the game at 14:12 to give Norwich the momentum back, but Kuhn gave UMass Boston life with a power-play tally at 16:14 to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Paul Russell put the game out of reach for good at 18:46, as his empty-net goal made it 6-3.

The Cadets outshot UMass Boston 31-26 for the contest, with the Beacons finishing 1-for-4 on the power-play and Norwich ending the day 1-for-5.

UMass Boston will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. when they travel to St. Michael's College. Norwich will host #3/4 Babson College in a matchup of the final two unbeaten teams in the ECAC East.
