Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – With a combined hitting percentage of .283 volleyball cruised to their ninth straight victory as they defeated Salve Regina University by the final of 3-0 Wednesday evening at Rodgers Recreation Center.
Currently ranked second in New England, the Beacons remain undefeated in in-region play as they continue their most impressive win-streak since the 2011 season.
The Beacons made quick work of their non-conference opponent earning a 25-17 win in game one, before taking game two and three by the finals of 25-16. With Wednesday's win, head coach Terry Condon sits just one win away from earning her 400th career victory as a collegiate head coach.
Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) led the Beacons offense with 11 kills and an impressive .524 hitting percentage. Senior Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) and sophomore Patsy Boland (Chicago, Ill.) each finished with nine kills, with Morrison hitting .500 and Boland hitting .444 respectively.
Setter Emma Rocha (Boynton Beach, Fla.) once again anchored the Beacons strong offensive play, as she put-up 16 assists to go along with a solid five digs. Defensively, Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) totaled 12 digs and scored one of the Beacons five aces.
For Salve Regina, they struggled all night as they hit just .066 having been charged with a total of 20 attack errors. Emily Lipinski led her team with six kills. Taylor Violet totaled 15 assists, while Dianna Tauro and Jennifer Duggan combined for 21 digs respectively.
Volleyball returns to action on Tuesday when they host Rhode Island College at 6 p.m. in the Little East Conference opener for both teams.
