BOSTON, Mass. – For the second straight day the 14^th ranked Beacons had to settle for another ECAC East conference draw as they tied the University of Southern Maine 1-1 Saturday afternoon in the Beacons Ice Arena.

Scoring the lone goal for the Beacons was Lizzie Aveson (West Covina, Calif.) in the first six minutes of the contest, but that goal was quickly cancelled out by the Huskies Tatiana Doucette on the power-play.  From there the two teams would battle back-and-forth, with neither team able to capitalize.

With the draw, the Beacons are now 5-1-2 overall, 3-1-2 in the ECAC East.  The Huskies now stand at 2-3-1 both overall and in the conference.

Stealing the show in Saturday's draw was senior goaltender Kailyn Burke (Franklin, Mass.).  The netminder made 18 stops, and is currently unbeaten on the year with a 3-0-1 record.  Included in her huge day was a penalty shot stop in the third period, which would have given the Huskies a very late lead.

She would also make one stop in the overtime period as well.  Perhaps her busiest period was the second as the Franklin native was forced to make 10 total stops.  For the Huskies, Nia Kelly totaled 25 saves in her first game of the 2014-15 season.  She also had a busy second period, making 11 saves to keep the score even at 1-1.

On the day UMass outshot Southern Maine 25-18, but were 0-for-5 on the power-play.  The Huskies were 1-for-4 overall on the man-up advantage. 

Assisting on Aveson's first collegiate goal was Jane Morrisette (Pembroke, Mass.).  With Saturday's assist, the freshman now sits tied for 25^th in the country in points per game by a rookie with 0.75 (3g, 3a). 

The Beacons return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Bowdoin College for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
