Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – With five different players finishing in double-figures and team field goal percentage of 53.5% the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth defeated men's basketball by the final score of 92-72 in a Little East Conference contest Tuesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center.

As a team UMass Dartmouth (13-11, 7-6 Little East) closed out the night 38-for-71 from the field and 7-for-17 from 3-point range.  At the line they were 9-for-16 overall.  UMass Boston (5-19, 1-12 Little East), who got off to a really slow start shot their way back into the contest to finish 24-for-60 from the field and 10-for-23 from behind the arc.  They were also 14-for-21 at the free throw line.

Pushing the Corsairs to the win was Alex Rodrigues game-high 17 points.  Along with a double-double from Justin Pulver of 13 points and 14 rebounds, UMass Dartmouth was solid on both sides of the floor.  Lance Greene, who ranks in the top-15 in the country in rebounding and in the top-5 in the Little East Conference in scoring dropped in 16 points and finished with six boards.  Colin Burns and John Genkos closed out the Corsairs double-figure scorers as they combined for 14 and 13 points respectively.

The Beacons finished the night with four players in double-figures with D3Hoops.com Team of the Week selection Vinny DeLucia (Miami, Fla.) leading the squad with 16 points.  Senior Isaac Jenkins (Pordenone, Italy) made his return to the line-up after being sidelined for a week to finish second on the squad with 15 points in just 16 minutes of work.  Quadry Allen (White Castle, La.) also came off the bench to have a solid night as he put-up 13 points.  Carl Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) rounded out the Beacons top scorers as the forward finished with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

On the glass UMass Dartmouth held a +14 over the host Beacons (44-30).  They also took advantage of the Beacons turnovers which they converted into 21 points.  Both benches finished with a combined 32 points, but the use of the Corsairs big-men in the paint proved to be the deciding factor as they scored 42 of their 92 points from close-range.

Men's Basketball will host Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the 2011-12 season finale for the Beacons.  Prior to the start of the contest the Beacons will honor their two senior members in Jenkins and Geoff Ebbs (Hingham, Mass.).
