On Saturday at the University of Rhode Island Coaches Invitational, Dorinda Okorji (Maynard, Mass.) was a top eight finisher in two different events (60m dash/ long jump) including a personal record, and a collegiate debut in the women's triple jump. Out of the blocks, Okorji qualified for finals with a season-record 7.94s in the preliminaries, and finished the finals heat in 8.00s. Okorji's 7.94s in preliminaries has her sixth in the Little East Conference. From the jumper's runway, Okorji set a new personal-record in the women's long jump, as she lept for a sixth-place 5.40m (17 ft., 8.75 in.) best. In the women's triple jump, Okorji took the runway for the first time in her career, and opened with a 9.74m (31 ft., 11.5 in.) which has her 11th in the LEC, qualifying her for her third event at the LEC Championships on Feb. 22 in Gorham, ME.Â
