Women's Cross Country Enjoys Strong Showing at Suffolk Invite

BOSTON, Mass.—Patriciah Mulinge (Brockton, Mass.) and Brianna Steele (Rutland, Mass.) each finished in the top 30, to lead UMass Boston women's cross country at the Suffolk University Invitational.

10th out of 19 teams (270 points)

Mulinge led the Beacons for a second-consecutive meet. She stayed with the lead pack through the first two miles and ended in 14th place with a time of 21:03.

Steele ended the day in 26th place, as the freshman put together a strong time of 21:47. The 26th place finish kept her streak together of four-straight meets finishing in the top two on the Beacons.

Sophomore Chantal Clerveaux (Boston, Mass.) was the third Beacon to cross the finish line with a time of 24:25 for 76th place.

Senior Patience Gbedema (Boston, Mass.) came in just behind her, as Gbedema just missed a new PR, with a time of 25:06 (86th place).

Sophomore Siobhan Ward (Scituate, Mass.) and senior Caroline Mullen (Marshfield, Mass.) were the final two Beacons to finish. Ward, who was making her season debut, narrowly edged out Mullen by just four seconds. Ward (27:04) and Mullen (27:08) both ran season-best times in the race.

The Beacons will have two weeks to prepare for the Little East Conerence Championship Meet on Saturday October 27. This year's LEC Championship Meet will be hosted by Rhode Island College.
