WESTFIELD, Mass. – A total of nine Beacons competed at the 100th running of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park. Leading the Beacons in Sunday's championship meet which feated teams from both Division III and Division I universities was seniors Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.) and Nicole Sidiropoulos (Carver, Mass.).
Kerin led the men's team with his time of 27:47.87 to earn a 217 place finish. After him was Tad Delaney (Halifax, Mass.) with his time of 28:54.45 (236). Tyler Colbert (Groveland, Mass.) also finished in the top-250 as he cross the line with a time of 30:28.56.
Andre Malcolm (Cambridge, Mass.) posted the fourth fastest times for UMB as he closed out Sunday's meet with a time of 31:48.97 to earn 254th place. Jared Layman (Woburn, Mass.) made his first appearance in a Beacons uniform and crossed the finish line with a time of 31:10.40 (257th). Joe Miller and Chris Chapman (Brockton, Mass.) closed out Sunday's meet for the men's squad with their times of 33:25.18 and 33:25.86 respectively.
On the women's side, Sidiropoulos finished in 234th place with her of 21:27.84. Joining her on Sunday was Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) who closed out the meet with a time of 24:11.38.
Cross Country will be back in action on Saturday when they compete in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Connecticut.
