Volleyball Drops Two On Final Day of Auggie Invite

AUGSBURG, Minn. – On their final day of the Auggie Invite, volleyball was handed a pair of losses first falling to 14th ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater by the final of 3-1, before falling to the host Augsburg University by the final of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

In the Beacons first match of the day, the 14th ranked Warhawks quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a 25-14 win in the first set and a 25-16 win in the second set.  UMass Boston then bounced back to collect their only win of the stacked tournament as they took the third frame by the final of 25-23. 

Whitewater grabbed the win after a 25-16 win the fourth set.  McKayla Geraghty (Elgin, Ill.) had her best match to-date as a Beacon as she threw down 10 kills, while also recording 11 digs to earn her, her first career double-double.  Aleks Qose (Athens, Greece) and Tyla Parker (Mahwah, N.J.)  each finished with 10 digs. 

Setter Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) had another strong match with her 23 assists, to go along with seven digs and two aces. 

At the net Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) tallied nine kills, nine digs, and a team-high three block assists.

In their final match of the tournament the host Auggies made quick work of the Beacons as they defeated UMB by the finals of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-8. 

Czapiewska led UMB with six kills, while Sarah Doyle (Glendale, Calif.) finished with three put-downs.  Komminsk notched seven assists and had seven digs.  Parker led the Beacons defensive effort with nine digs.


  • Wisconsin-Whitewater marked the second top-25 team that the Beacons faced in the Auggie Invite
  • Host Augsburg University was receiving votes on the AVCA National Poll, which made them the fourth straight opponent that UMB faced to be featured on the poll
  • All-time the Beacons are now 0-2 against Whitewater with Saturday's match marking their first meeting since 2015
  • UMB is now 0-4 against Augsburg with Saturday's match marking the first meeting since the 2015 season


The Beacons will travel to Simmons College on Wednesday for a 7 pm non-conference match.
