Chianco Named LEC Defensive Player of the Week For The Second Time

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – For the second time in the last three weeks senior libero Macayla Chianco (Clearwater, Fla.) has been named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Last week, Chianco and the Beacons recorded a pair of LEC wins to remain tied for first place in the conference standings.  In the 3-2 come-from-behind win over Rhode Island College, the Florida native registered 28 digs, and actually had the match-winning point in the fifth set.  On Saturday, Chianco registered 33 put-ups in the 3-1 win over Keene State. 

To date, Chianco sits third in the conference with 4.39 digs per set and is also third in total digs with 364.  The Beacons will close out their conference schedule tomorrow at UMass Dartmouth.
