NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The women's track and field team recorded a season-high three first place finishes at the Smith College Carla Coffey Invitational Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Recording first place finishes in Saturday's meet was Annie Appolon in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and Ruth Labranche in the long jump. Appolon posted times of 13.48 and 27.79 seconds, while Labranche finished with a jump of 14-10.00 feet.
Also having a standout showing in the 100 was Gesheca Boswell who finished in second place with a time of 13.50 seconds. Katie Olson, Krystal Alvarez, and Alanna Olton all finished in the top-8 in the 100-meter dash. Alvarez also picked-up a second-place finish with a time of 28.76 in the 200-meter dash.
Brianna Steele narrowly missed out on a first-place finish of her own as she finished in second place in the 400-meter dash. Steele posted a time of 1:05.88 which was just .32 seconds behind Emmanuel's Haley Boisvert.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Olton registered a time of 16.86 seconds, while Olson finished with a time of 17.17 seconds to earn second and third place respectively. Olton also collected a second-place finish in the high jump with her final leap measured at 4-10.25 feet.
Maggie Hale picked-up a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she became the first Beacon to compete in the event this season. In the triple jump, Paulina Vo finished in fourth place with a final jump of 32-00.75 feet. Arriannah Gervais registered her best finish of the 2019 outdoor season as she recorded a throw of 33-01.75 feet in the shot put. She also took home fourth place in the discus with a throw of 83-05 feet.
The Beacons will compete at the Penmen Relays next Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University.
