PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After recording their best finish ever at the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet, the sixth ranked women's track and field team earned three Little East weekly honors Monday afternoon.
At Saturday's championship, the Beacons earned a program record seven gold medals and 102 points to earn third place overall.
On Monday, Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while Taylor Driggers (Lisbon, Conn.) earned the Field Athlete of the Week honors. The women's 4x200-meter relay team of Ashley Hernandez (Miami, Fla.), Lexy Bean (Danvers, Mass.), Driggers and Jonathas were named the Relay Team of the Week
Jonathas, earned her seventh straight weekly honored, after sweeping the sprint events at Saturday's conference championship. She won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.65 seconds, before taking the top times in the 200- (24.93) and 400-meter dashes (58.13). Her prelim time in the 60-meter dash (7.63) and her time in the 200 were both LEC and NEA records.
Driggers, picked-up her first weekly honor of the season after winning and setting an LEC and NEA record in the long jump. Her final leap of 18-11.75 feet has her ranked third in the country. She also finished second in the triple jump with a final mark of 37-10.00 feet.
For the 4x200-meter relay team, they won both LEC and NEA titles at Saturday's championship, with a time of 1:43.40.
