PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced that sophomore sprinter Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti), and the women's 4x400-meter relay team have earned weekly honors after standout performances at Saturday's BU Terrier Classic meet.
Jonathas was named the Track Athlete of the Week again, while the 4x4 earned Relay Team of the Week accolades.
On Saturday, Jonathas registered the fastest time in Division III history in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.70 seconds. She became the first sprinter in Division III history to record a sub 54-second time in the 400-meter dash. She now sits as the national leader in three separate events (60-, 200-, and 400-). Her time currently leads Division II, and would have her ranked in the top-15 in Division I.
The 4x4 team of Jonathas, Taylor Driggers (Lisbon, Conn.), Lexy Bean (Danvers, Mass.), and Olivia Burnes (Paxton, Mass.) recorded a sixth-place finish at Saturday's meet. Registered a season-best time of 3:57.30, which was also the fastest DIII time in the 4x4 on Saturday. To-date the four sprinters are ranked fourth in the country, and have the second fastest relay time in New England.
