NEW ORLEANS, La. – After posting one of their best seasons one year ago, the women's track and field team earned their highest preseason national ranking on the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Poll.
The Beacons earned a total 45.08 points, and were the only team from the Little East Conference to be ranked on the preseason poll. They were also the third highest ranked team in New England on the preseason poll, behind #2 MIT and #6 Williams College. Last season, the Beacons closed out the year ranked a program best ninth on the final USTFCCCA National Poll.
Last season, the Beacons were amongst the hottest teams in the country thanks to than freshman Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti), and the women's 4x400-meter relay team. For multiple weeks, the Beacons earned both conference and national weekly recognition.
Jonathas closed out the year with the fastest times in Division III history in both the outdoor 200- and 400-meter dashes. She won multiple national championships, and had the most impressive showing at the conference championship meet.
After the first week of competition, Jonathas was named the USTFCCCA Division III National Track Athlete of the Week, after recording a sub-25 second time in the 200-meter dash.
