PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced that sophomore sprinter Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) has been named the Track Athlete of the Week, while the women's 4x200-meter relay team has earned Relay Team of the Week honors.
Monday's announcement marks the second straight week, that Jonathas was named the top sprinter in the Little East Conference. It also marked the second time that the Beacons women's 4x2 team earned the conference's top billing.
In Saturday's Rhode Island College Invitational, Jonathas once again cruised to a first-place finish, as she posted a time of 25.02 seconds, which converted to 24.64 seconds. That converted time, ties Jonathas for 10th all-time in Division III history, and currently stands as the fastest time in the country.
For the 4x2 team of Jonathas, Ashley Hernandez (Miami, Fla.), Lexy Bean (Danvers, Mass.), and Olivia Burnes (Paxton, Mass.), the posted a combined time of 1:47.26. Their time proved to be the top mark at the Rhode Island College Invitational, after defeating the second place team by .59 seconds.
