NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – After her record setting performances at Sunday's Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet, sophomore All-American Hulerie McGuffie (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week.
At the conference championship, the Lynn native earned a program record five gold medals (3 individuals, 2 relays) to lead the Beacons to a program best fourth place finish. She set a new LEC record in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 12.26 and 25.21 seconds respectively.
She was also a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams that set new Little East Conference Championship meet records. In the 4x100 the four sprinters recorded a time of 48.63 seconds, while in the 4x400 the Beacons combined for a time of 4:03.24.
To date McGuffie is ranked 24th in the 100 (12.26), ninth in the 200 (24.81), and second in the 400 (55.80. The 4x100 relay team is currently ranked 18th in the country with their time of 48.20. At Sunday's meet, McGuffie was also crowned the 2014 Little East Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, making her the first athlete in program history to earn the honor.
