Muntasser Picks Up League-Leading Third Little East Rookie of The Week Award
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—For the second time in a row and league-leading third time this season, UMass Boston women's tennis freshman Nuha Muntasser (Braintree, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Muntasser led the Beacons to their first Little East Conference two-game winning streak since September of 2011 with a perfect 4-0 week in victories over Salem State and Western Connecticut State University.
The Beacons number one singles player dropped just four games across four sets in a pair of number one singles victories to move to 9-5 in singles play on the season.
She also added a pair of doubles victories alongside sophomore Logan Smith (Southwick, Mass.). Playing together for the first time this season, the pair combined for an 8-6 victory at Salem State University, before winning 8-1 Thursday afternoon over Western Connecticut State University.
Muntasser ranks second on the Beacons in singles victories (nine), doubles victories (seven) and overall wins with 16.
