Softball Wraps Up Fall Ball Schedule With Strong Showing At Beacons Tournament

BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston Softball completed their 2013 Fall Ball schedule on Columbus Day, when they hosted the UMass Boston Fall Ball Invite.

After several weeks of practice, the Beacons culminated their Fall Ball season with a pair of games against Division II Stonehill College and Division III Simmons College.

The Beacons' Tournament also was their Breast Cancer Awareness Game, as the Beacons wore specially designed pink T-shirts, with several breast cancer awareness decals on their helmets. Specifically, the Beacons paid tribute to former UMass Amherst Softball head coach Elaine Sortino who passed away in August after a long battle with breast cancer.

The Beacons will begin their regular season when they travel to Florida over spring break for a series of games.
