PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After another 2-0 week freshman goalkeeper Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, for the second time in her career.
In a pair of non-conference wins the Leominster native recorded her sixth and seventh shutouts of the 2019 season. She first registered a 1-0 win over Salve Regina University on Tuesday after making two saves. She then recorded a 2-0 win over Curry College behind a three save performance against the Colonels.
To date, Spylios leads the Little East Conference with a .830 save percentage and a 0.62 goals against average. Her eight goals against also has her sitting atop the conference standings. With her two wins last week, Spylios now sits with an 11-2-0 record, making her the first goalkeeper since 2014 to record 10 or more wins in a season.
