HOW IT HAPPENED
Maggie McCabe and Caitlin Trott and Molly Roy all contributed assists for the Beavers. Fellow rookie Morgan Fedosiewich made three saves to record her second consecutive shutout.
Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) made seven saves in the loss.
Nearing halftime, Lalor put the Green and White ahead for good with her first career marker. Following a buildup down the right side Roy took a feed from Trott and hit a near-post service that Lalor was able to flick past Spylios to make it 1-0 in the 43rd minute.
The Beavers extended their advantage just over seven minutes into the second half on West's second goal in as many games. McCabe intercepted a pass at midfield and played a ball behind the UMass Boston back line for West, who chipped a shot over the charging Spylios to make it 2-0 at the 52:09 mark.
The Beacons nearly went in front in the 24th minute only to see sophomore Grace McGettrick's (Marshfield, Mass.) deflect off the crossbar and out of danger. McGettrick also had a chance to halve the UMass Boston deficit in the 77th minute, but her sliding shot from the left side of the box just went wide of the far post.
