BOSTON, Mass.—For the first time in UMass Boston history, the Beacons have a CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District team honoree, after Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, Mass.) was voted a Division III District 1 First Team member.
The CoSIDA Capital One Academic Awards recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
As a First Team All-District honoree, Ledin is in contention to become the first Academic All-American in school history.
Ledin, a junior nursing major on the women's soccer team, came into this week in the top four amongst Division III women's soccer players nationally in four offensive categories.
The all-time leading goal and point scorer in both program and Little East Conference history, Ledin ranks third in the country with her 29 goals and 63 points, while sitting third with 3.35 points per game and fourth with her 1.529 goals per game.
In three seasons at UMass Boston, Ledin has led the Beacons and the conference in goals and points each year, and became the first All-American in program history, when she was named a D3Soccer.com Third Team All-American last fall.
Ledin and the Beacons will look to earn their second consecutive Little East Conference Regular Season Title Saturday, when UMass Boston hosts Rhode Island College at 1 p.m.
